Anchor/Bolt Replacement

Post by Artsay »

In light of the anchor replacement initiative http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtop ... eplacement , I was thinking how this board could be a good place to log such replacement needs, in addition to any bolts in need of being retro-bolted. Obviously, there's no committee responsible for this. However, a journal of sorts might be helpful if the Red does, in fact, get targeted for the above mentioned initiative.

Last night I saw that the third bolt of Way Up Yonder looks like it's about to blow.

Actually The RRGCC has an Anchor/Bolt replacement committee that is part of the Climber's Advisory council. So this type of information can be relayed directly to the RRGCC by going on the website. Once again it takes time and money to act upon the request and currently there are a select few that have the know how to do the job. If you are interested in volunteering to help out with this, just let the RRGCC know!

Is the Anchor/Bolt replacement committee going to make all of the replacements that are being funded by Climbing? I think this is meant more as a guide for using their donations.

Wow, I didn't know there was actually a committee that did this. I remember seeing a donation bucket at Miguel's a few years back for replacement costs and thought it was done on an individual basis.

Gretchen, I think the anchor/bolt replacement committee members' contact information needs to be published - at the very least an email address. The RRGCC message board does not get timely responses to questions about these things, at least not in my experience. If the CAC is not aware of the problem bolts/anchors, they will not be appropriately addressed.

Are there seats on the anchor/bolt committee of the CAC opening up? If so, is the plan to rely only on those climbers in attendence at Derby Fest to be potentially voted into these positions? Perhaps a list of open seats could be posted prior to the Fest? Not everyone who is qualified will be able to make it and it would be a shame not to gauge climber interest in participating on the CAC, in whatever capacity.

Artsay, I think cataloguing this here is an excellent idea, by the way, but we also need to notify the committee in case they don't keep up with this board.

Some very good ideas. I will work on compiling a list of the open seats on the CAC & Rep Network, so that everyone has time to make a decision prior to the event. SO much to do! Oi Vey! {is that spelt right?}

Terry Kindred is the individual that applied for the "grant" from Climbing so he has the answers at the moment. I will look into this as well.
