Copperheads at Bruise Brothers Wall

Please watch where you step and drop your packs near the small boulder at the base of "Sweet Jane" at the Bruise Brothers' Wall (Rebel Camp Branch, Muir Valley). There are at least three copperheads (a large one and two babies) camped out under this boulder that come out from time to time to bask in the sun. They are docile and will avoid people given the opportunity, but we don't want any injuries due to someone accidentally disturbing them without being aware of their presence.

"Sweet Jane" is temporarily closed.

Please do not disturb or injure the snakes. And, please keep your dogs away from this area.

I saw one of these a couple weeks ago bathing on a log at the bottom of these climbs. I didn't seem to be afraid of us, or even care that we were there. It may be a good idea to have a snake bite kit available somewhere. Just a thought.

We are advised that under some conditions a snake bite kit can cause more harm than good. Field herpetologists consider "car keys (and a car)" to be the best snakebite kit.

There have always been copperheads in that area, Hence the name Little Viper. There are copperheads everywhere in the gorge area. You better close the whole freaking place !!!! Some folks should stay in the gym.

i can't disagree more, sandy. copperheads are freaking scary.. look at the things! there's no way they'd hold my body weight, not even this whole family of 'em! keep out of and away from my pack!
