Hunger pains what to eat?

When I started climbing I was weight between 200-210 lbs and quickly realized that wasn't going to cut it so for about the last 14 months I've dropped to a steady 180lbs, and was pretty happy there, but I'm at a wall so I made a goal to reach 170. Which is turning out to require a little more work, and I'm fine with that.

But my strenght training & cardio workouts are suffering due to lack of fuel for the engine, and I have this constant hunger pain. My diet intake is very heathly constisting of mostly fruits, vegtable, Fish, chicken, and rice. And If I had to guess the daily calorie consumption has been less than 1800 per 24hr period.

Any other fat asses out there gone through the same thing. If so how did you keep from eating your hand. Or what high volume low calorie/fat foods did you eat to curve the cravings, and keep you going.

I lost 60lbs when I started climbing 235 -> 175 and I'm already backup to to 190 becaus e I was starting to get in to the same situtation. I know my diet at the time wasn't the best and was more of just portion control and no junk food with lots of cardio.


One thing I could do when I was 235 that I miss was get a gut rest while manteling.

Tip: go through women's health magazines because this topic is covered in about every issue with different ideas on how to curb hunger. Try Shape or Fitness.

Another tip: get adequate sleep. I can give you the specifics if you want, but in short, lack of sleep ignites hunger and cravings, especially for carbs.

Plain yogurt with chopped up almonds - plenty of protein, enough fat to fill you up (depending on the yogurt you get), and not much sugar (again, depending on the yogurt). You can get more creative with that if you want, but it's a good start.

Depending on your location the quickest fix will be either crack or crystal meth.

With enough dedication it's guaranteed to get you down to your fighting weight in maybe 2 months and you'll never be hungry, for food.

Special K cereal bars. 90 calories. Don't really taste bad either.

You should try spirulina.... it is a very good source of (plant) protein and has a full array of minerals and aminos.... it can really help control your appetite. This is something that you can find at a health food store in either tablet or powder form. The powder tastes kind of grody, though.... but is palatable in a smoothie, if you can get over the dark green hue that your beverage will take on.....

When I am training really hard, I always drink a protein shake after a hard workout, normally with soy milk. The calories are burned up almost immediately because your metabolism is raging from the workout, but the protein stays with you and keeps you from getting super hungry and overeating.

As far as snacks go, yogurts and cheeses and deli meat slices keep me full without adding too many calories. I'd stay away from any type of processed food for snacking. They add lots of calories and never fill me up.
