Rags, It said it was 9.8 but I dont believe it. It handles and feels the same as a 10.2 The only thing I noticed is not enough friction low on a rappel. I rap it all the way around my back. It's still brand new and slick.
My Marathon lasted 6 years. They are great ropes.

We used my partners' ropes a lot the last 3. I don't think it's as long as my old rope Matt. It is barely long enough to rap from the summit of cavers. Maybe I'll stretch them out together and see.

I have been through three 9.8 sterlings over the last three years, and have never, ever had any trouble with the gri-gri. And I fall. Alot.
I am pretty hard on my ropes, going trough at least one a year, but sterling has been the best so far. Bi-color is cool, but since I end up having to cut the ends at least once or twice, it sorta loses some of it's value.
I had a Sterling that i used for about a year before folding to the complaints of everyone at work who felt it was too dirty (from climbing at the red) and had some mildly fluffy sections and got a Beal 9.8. it's been working well although it is nice to have a belay glove when lowering w/ a Grigri.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.
