Motherlode Alternate Parking Area?

Post by enlighten_me »

Last time I visited the Motherlode wall, my car almost didn't make it back up the hill. Is there another parking area close by I can hike to the wall from? What if I pay the guy at the top of the hill $5 to park at his house?

depending on water level and clearance your you could go in through Fixer Road. You have in pretty major stream fording and a couple of drive-down-the creeks. But it is a fairly level trip. It would not be good in times of wet weather though.

As it states in the guide book if you can't make up the hill climb somewhere else. Its harsh but that's the reality. The road does get graded every once in a while so its possible that the road is in better shape now than the last time you were there.

Use your ropre to tow your car up the hill. Or, bring along a donkey or goat.

If you can't make it up the hill, I wouldn't try the creek.

Get something with 4WD.

Hang out at Miguel's and try to find a ride in a truck (but steer away from anything with a gun rack in it).
Pick myself up, stop lookin' back.

Given the occasional break-ins at the Motherlode lot, it sounds like hitching a ride in someone else's car is the best bet!
