Foot problem

Post by SCIN »

I've got this sharp pain in my foot. It's kind of like directly underneath the knuckle of my big toe deep inside. It's preventing me from pushing off of my foot while I'm bouldering. Anyone else ever experience this? If I push my toes together I really feel it.

Dude, that's the Pattonius Fungus! It attacks and consumes the natural tissue of your feet from the inside out to ensure its survival. When it reaches the surface, your feet will look like the General's and there IS NO CURE!

I was just going to say that it's functional arthritis - I have it in the ball of the big toe on my right foot. But shit, if it's some sort of horrible fungus, I may just have to amputate!

Ray,

Without taking a look at you and going just by what you said, run a search on Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome or Morton's Neuroma.
Can't we all just get along?

I'd go with the arthritis thing. Does it bug you before, durring, or after running? Jill and I have some weird aches and pains in our feet from all the running that we've been doing. I think its a sign that we're all just getting old.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Sounds like Morton's Neuroma. Check out emedicine.com and search it.

Thanks for the info y'all. It does sound like Morton's Neuroma. I rested my foot from climbing for a few days. I climbed today but I took an old climbing shoe and cut an "X" in the leather on top of the large toe knuckle for relief and it worked.

Steve, I have been running a lot more than normal lately so it probably is related for sure. I've been cycling a lot more lately too and cycling shoes are kind of constricting like climbing shoes.

I've also been setting problems in the gym a lot and usually I'll leave my climbing shoes on for 3-4 hours at a time so I'm going to make it a habit to take them off more frequently throughout the night when I'm in the gym.
