Here we are, just beginning the summer climbing/training season, and already my climbing shoes and harness reek. Bad...really bad.
Any tips on cleaning them up, and getting the funk out? I tried the bathtub and wool lite, but the stink stayed. Anyone had success putting them in the washer, even with the metal parts?
What's that skanky smell?

Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
The harness looked and smelled like brand new. The shoes looked like new but only smelled 60-70% new. You could still tell they had some smell, but nothing like before. I put them in the wash with my other synthetics and everything worked fine. I did wash as a full load so there was plenty of room for everything to move.

Man, I don't know if this works or not, I think I remember reading it somewhere, but...
Put everything that stinks in the freezer for a day or so. The cold supposedly kills the bacteria that causes the smell. I've never tried it, so I'm not sure that it works.
