I heard that access road to the Arena is not owned by RRGCC, hence it's status as closed. So I was wondering if there's not some other (legal) way to approach and perhaps rappel to climbing areas. *shrug* It was an idle thought because someone once told me the routes I like to climb are fairly abundant in that area.
captain_static: I'm sorry if my usage of the word "word" was obtuse. I went to a Catholic high school so I'm always interchanging "word" for "news", which is hopefully "good news", which is gospel, which some hold to be God's "word". Anyway, TMI, I know, but I think it was funny you made me think of that. =)

Um, why not just go climb one of the other 100's of routes out there until they can work something out? Or do you feel such a sense of entitlement that you are special enough that you should have preferential treatment?jhg wrote:What about belaying from above? I suppose I'd rather TR if given a choice between TR and nothing.
There are routes there I would love to do, but, out of respect for the work the rrgcc is doing, I chose not to climb there.

according to the online guidebook there have been 354 new routes put up since oil crag and the arena were closed. that is more than most climbing areas have in total. Throw in the other 1,100 open routes in the Red and you have enough climbing for decades. (And in all styles and difficulties)
