Yeah, they really don't understand what it takes to something of this magnitude. The hardest most of these jokers have climbed is some sloppy scramble in one of their Eco Challenge races.

Here is the spread from National Geographic: since 1975 1,200 individuals have summitted, ages 16 to 65; 175 people have perished; the one day summit record is 89 individuals. The number of attempts is not reported in National Geographic. I know that several individuals attempting the seven summits have required several attempts before they bagged Sagarmatha. Therefore I would place my money on the mountain. Somebody needs to start a poll post for this.

It had the potential to be interesting if it could have stuck with the basic premise. I don't know how marketable that would have been though. The 'survivor' format they took on put me out of the market pretty quick. An everest expedition is ridiculously expensive and I'd like to think some of those initial contestants saw it as their best chance of participating. The weeding out process looked bad early on though. Maybe Tom will get the chance sometime if that's his goal

Might be a better watch if they put the Harlan Co. family on the mountain. I might be willing to bet against the mountain in that case.

I wasn't aware that OLN had made the announcement on the finalists. Now that it is official that Tom is not one of the chosen, when I talked to him last, he did mention there was a possibility he would be going on the OLN expedition in a support role.
