Something everyone should be proud of

Post by spuzo »

From time to time I abandon this board, as many others do, because it goes through phases of nastiness and niceness, which is fine, we're all human. We get mad, we get pissed off at one another, we fight, we are dramatic. But the one thing that makes it all OK in my book, is that it is very apparent that everyone here cares. Whether it's about raising money for a cause or a crag, supporting someone who needs it, or helping each other through times like these. I miss that more than anything else about the Red. I am surrounded by awesome climbing areas, but I miss the community. We brag to other climbers that are heading to the Red on road trips that they will be instantly welcomed and have no trouble finding partners at the Red. We boast of the climbing and the people. We are like traveling brochures.

With the passing of one of the pillars of the community, of course I am deeply saddened, but I at the same time, I am very hopeful and positive, in that you can look around the board here (since I am not there to look around the Red itself) and see that the younger generations of Red climbers are doing a fantasic job of making sure the roof doesn't collapse when some of the other pillars are no longer standing or able to support.

We never cease to be impressed by you all and we look forward to being part of this community again soon.

If the board is getting a little too ooey gooey for you, don't worry, someone will stir the pot soon enough.

Damn, Joe. You are getting down right emotive! Give me a hug!
(and maybe consider not telling everyone how great the Red is. It is a shit heap after all.)

Yeah, quit spreading those damn rumors. We're all mean and hate outsiders.
