I heard the new Seneca guidebook was better than the old one, but not by leaps and bounds. I guess he changed the color of the route lines from those invisible red lines to a more visible color, but I think I heard the pictures were still black and white. Still gotta give the guy credit though, its a lot of work. Plus, maybe there's not as much of a market for a Seneca guidebook as there is for a Red guidebook - probably more climbers at the Red now.
Actually, I was at Seneca yesterday...BEAUTIFUL day...I didn't climb there, I went backpacking for 3 days around Dolly Sods, and then we were hankering for some front porch pizza, so we headed to Seneca Rocks and ate there, staring up at the rocks. Really torturous to be at this place that I only get to go to rarely, and just get to look at it - but at least the pizza was good!

We just got back from 4 days of climbing at Seneca using the new guidebook. Presumably better than the old one, but not even in the same league as Ray's. Black & white photos taken from WAY far away. Not a single photo of an individual route that you could use to verify where it started (or where you were), and vague text descriptions on most of the routes. We got off route several times. Fortunately, there were enough people around to ask for directions!
We are really lucky to have Ray's work of art for the Red!
