If you read the thread, this is one really bizarre accident.....rope clipped through three carabiners comes loose. Not sure we'll ever really know what happened on this one. Very sad, her husband watched her fall. Thoughts and prayers to him and the family.
There is way too much speculation right now on the events that happened, that whenever there is concrete evidence on what really happeded I hope someone posts. There are so many senerios in climbing that could result in an accident. Simple things like back clipping. I remember the first time somone showed it to me and the results my eyes about popped out of my head. And thats simple shit. So what ever happen to that poor lady I want to know the facts so I can make sure no one I climb with or myself makes the same mistake.
not to derail this thread because I think it is important...
Has anyone ever heard of the rope coming out of a biner during a fall because of a "back clip"? Is there any actual domumentation of that really happening?

yes i agree which is why I am always careful to not back clip. Yet I wonder if it could really unclip itself...probably not..esp on steep rock where the biner is not laying against the rock.
