Finger locks = Numbness?
Finger locks = Numbness?
So, when I was at Indian Creek, my feet cut while leading a finger crack and my pinkie finger has been numb for around 6 weeks. Today, after leading a kinda hard (subtle spary, but no sending) finger crack at the new, I noticed that I now have another numb finger tip. Will the feeling ever come back?
I've had the back of my hand and a couple fingers numb for at least 2 months. I was starting to think it was just going to be like that. I was going to say that it finally went away but I just touched the back of my hand and it's still numb and I've just forgotten about it (just kidding). I think in my case I just damaged a nerve by smashing the shit out of it against a jagged rock and it took awhile for the nerve to repair itself to the point where it could transmit.
I've had a numbness and a tingling sensation in the tip of various fingers before. Cranking on a finger lock I've felt a pain / sensation that I thought at the time ' this is going to hurt for awhile'. Can't remember how long it lasts though.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Nerves regenerate at the rate of 1mm per day if they are connected and not totally crushed. The length of a finger is 8 cm, so 80 mm, so 80 days to recovery? It depends of the degree of contusion to the nerve. Technical name is neuropraxia- aka nerve contusion with loss of nerve impulse conducting capacity.
