suggestion- grudge list

Post by gladhander »

I have a mental list of every climb that i've gotten on that has kicked my ass. As i improve, i go back to the climbs and put them on my spray list with a sense of delicious triumph. Perhaps it would be a good idea to codify that instinct that many climbers have with a separate personalized grudge list that would work on a similar principle to the spray list(a fantastic tool).

anyway let me know what you all think.

Have you bought Ray's guide book. That should help you organize your personal goal list.

i have the book. The book has a check list. What i'm particularly interested in is not whether i have or have not done the climb(which the check list is suited for) but rather the climbs i've tried to do but flagged on. Obviously i could physically make the list myself. I just think it would be a cool thing to have online.
I mean don't we all have climbs that have haunted us until we make a clean ascent?

gladhander, Artsay and I have had the same idea on separate occasions-- we called it our wish list, but the idea's the same. I keep telling myself I'm going to code it up, because it really wouldn't entail much more than some additions to the database and a screen very similar to the spray list. I'll keep you updated-- thanks for the unintentional reminder to get my ass in gear. ;)

No, tried and died!
As much as it sucks to dwell on routes that spat me off, it would be cool to log the routes that I've been on but didn't quite, uh, well, you know, send. *cough*Nylon Hold*cough* Any chance we could log a date of last attempt as part of this?

in my old book, i merely used a system on the tick list. if i onsighted, the box was colored in solid. if i tried it and got stomped, the box was divided into two triangles with a hash mark. once sent, the other half was added to make an "X" in the box.

problem solved.

route list

Also, it would be nice to have a list of al the climbs that you haven't done, just so you know what they are and can easily keep track, and see them at a glance.

Um, that list would be the unmarked part of your guidebook.

thanks scin and yasmeen

the online guidebook is a fantasic/ generous tool. We, all, owe you.

THough it sounds like things are all worked out already, I had a thought on the subject if it's not too late. Just as you 'uncheck' for a toprope ascent one could uncheck for a flagged climb. This could appear in red lettering on your spray list. Red of course would be for the blood you lost on the climb in your failed attempt.

Anyway it turns out, it is highly welcomed.
