Metolius PAS system

Post by kirker »

I was wondering if anyone has tried the new Metolius PAS "Daisy chain" system...http://www.metoliusclimbing.com/pas.htm

Any regrets?
Stay with a daisy chain?

Just thought I would ask before spending $30...

I use it all the time. At 220 lbs. I just feel safer on it. For all you lite climbers dc is probably fien.
I try to be a good man but all that comes
of trying is I feel more guilty.

I replaced my daisy chain with a Metolius PAS.

I use to use a shoulder length runner girth hitched to my belay loop but switched over to the PAS last fall. I think it works pretty well - the best feature is the ease of adjustabilty. Be careful grabbing for your rope when clipping gear on lead, it is possible to pull the rope through the PAS if you are not careful (same goes for a girth hitched runner).
I'm having a high gravity day!

I just use an 8 and or a clove hitch with my lead line for belay action and normal double length slings for raps and stuff. I do use a daisy for jugging though, wonder if this would be better for that?

I pretty much use the same setup, and was hoping this could replace all that extra gear with one simple tool. But was a little worried about strength and durablilty since at times it is the only point of contact. :?

i purchased one to replace a daisy i had been using for a while.

I like it. the strength and durability won't be an issue...it's bomber. It's a little shorter than the daisy i was using...that's my only gripe.

Metolius states the standard daisy chain is only strong from end to end and individual pockets on a daisy are designed for bodyweight only. The PAS system claims full-strength individual loops, well over 3000lb.

For anybody who regularly uses a normal daisy chain, this might be of interest to you:
