bolts and anchors in the red

Bentley, thanks so much for fixing Kick Me in the Jimmie!!!! And all of the other work you and the group mentioned above are doing. It's great to see people other then Team Suck, Matt Tackett and Wes taking responsibility for bolt and anchor replacement. Thank you!

I can see if the Cbus crew wants to reach into their pockets beyond the PMRP fund drive but I think it might be asking too much at this point. For me I can give 10 or 20 bucks right now. My budget is tight right now with tutition. Plus I had intended on making a healthy donation to the RRGCC for the MPRP. When my arm is better I can help out with labor.

This comes up whenever route maintenance is brought up: adding some sort of gear condition and maintenance log to the online guidebook database. I'm sorry to bring it up, because it's something I can't personally help with, but I would like to 'nudge' things ahead.

A couple of questions:
1) How old are those rusty bolts?
2) Could someone cut a couple in half to see how deep the rust is going?

Managing a data base on bolt conditions would be great, but too many variables exist to keep it up dated and useful. I think that (and this is dreaming) all the bolts in the red are switched over to stainless glue ins. It could be feasible if a pro deal on the glue could be had. The bolts are cheap.

What variables? A date, the hardware replaced, and a name of the person who did the repairs? That's 3 variables. Even my 5 year old nephew can keep track of 3 variables. Or is it laziness? It's worth a try, isn't it?

To add to what Lurkist said about spinning bolts hangers. All of the bolts that we replaced DID have spinning hangers, with the expection of the first bolt of Convicted. Perhaps the scariest was the first bolt on Skin Boat, there was a good 1/8 inch of air between the hanger and rock from it spinning for so long.
