I just bought the best freakin pair of climbing shoes that I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. They are called Trad Masters by LaSportiva. Lace-ups, aggressive serrated heal THAT goes both ways, around the heal the serrations face upwards, and around towards the toe-end the serrations face toe-ward, these shoes come with 2 soft rubber strips starting from the tarsal area of the foot and ending at the base of the phalanges of the foot thus providing excellent friction in crack systems where the ankle breaking foot placements are needed. The inside of the shoe is lined with the soft material you find in regular tennis shoes. And also features a more minimal version of the "sling shot heel" effect you find on more technical shoes. The Sling-Shot Heel effect is a feature that gives more torque in the toes for one, and provides a bit more stable heel to prevent it from slipping off during those insane heelhooks you may need to preform on a few tradroutes. The lateral and medial sides of the heel feature a roughened area to prevent heel rollovers from slipping off the hold. These shoes will do it all, smering, edging, heelhooks, toehooks, pretty much any crack manuever you can think of AND can make hot chocolate. Kidding.
I've only just bought them today and you might be asking how I know all this. Well I spent about 10 minutes in the gym today doing every kind of foot manuever I knew,. The walls of the gym are alot more slick than the granite, or sandstone outside and these things still stuck. So logically they would preform excellently outdoors. However I will update my review after I get back from the RRG trip. I don't think i'm going to be disappointed at all with these shoes.
