The little raccoon was probably looking for food because raccoons are over-populated due to lack of natural preditors from human impact. Wolves, coyotes, etc. So, I figure the least I can do is let Demon devil-dog roam around and thin the herd.
Also, golf is dumb. My dog would never step foot on a golf course. She's too scared of yuppies.

I love dogs just as much as the next person and am all about having them with me, but if your dog starts fights, pisses on people's ropes, gets in people's packs, digs holes, or BITES PEOPLE, TIE THEM TO A TREE! I about had to stomp a dog's guts out yesterday because the owner was too stupid to keep the door shut and it ran out and tried to fight our dogs while we were walking.

I bring my dog when the choice is either for her to come or me to stay at home. If I have someone at home though who can watch her, then I leave her there. I know that she loves being outside, but dogs can be a pain in the ass (yes, even mine).
However, if she ever acts up, barks, growls, etc. then I tie her up near me and away from others. I think this is just common courtesy. Also, she doesn't bark wildly when tied up, which I find to be terribly annoying and distracting when trying to climb.
Essentially, I think that if your dog behaves and doesn't endanger or greatly distract others, then he/she is just as enjoyable to be around at the crag as most people and in some cases (route hogs, ass holes, etc.) even more so.
However, if your dog is continually out of line (you know if this is the case!) then you should leave him/her at home or find a deserted crag where you won't be affecting other climbers’ experiences.

Well here I am another Dog lover and owner offering my 2 cents worth; however, that being said people need to be responsible with their dogs. If your dog poops on the cliff line or barks at every person who comes around the corner maybe it isn't such a good idea to bring him/her to the crag.
As for as traveling with them they usually aren't a problem, that is if they are well behaved. I have road tripped for extended periods with my pooch and she is great.
As for climbing hard I will agree there is nothing more annoying than being in the middle of a had red point and having someones dog or kid for that matter go off like a 4 alarm fire. I am one of the lucky ones as my pooch doesn't bark hardly at all, but I have to agree with Darmo barking dogs and crying kids at the crag are annoying, like those people who have their cell phones at the cliff and somehow get reception and then talk on them. Shut that Dog/Kid up and turn that phone off you're ruining my wilderness experience man!

I think the real problem is that too many irresponsible people have dogs.
There are a sh#$tload of people in this country feeling lonely with out any other natural predators around. So, we've bred dogs into rather comical characters and invited them to live with us in urbania.
Over time People and dogs have developed a priceless relationship improving the quality of life in the giant parking lot. The most compassionate dog owners have trained their animals so that together they can escape into the limited woodlands and be the animals that they are.
Others, simply escape and together sh&*t on the trail
