Bike pedals and shoes

Post by Danny »

I just got a new road bike and I need to get pedals and shoes. I don't know anything about them and was wanting some advice on what to get and where to get it. I'm thinking I'll initially want to get something not to pricey and wait till I know the ends and out a bit better before wasting a bunch of money.

Go to a local bike shop. In Lexington, try Pedal Power. They have always been nice to me.

definitely look for a local bike shop, the advice and convenience if you need service is worth the extra couple bucks you might pay. Clipless is the bomb. I'm currently riding look pedals on my roadie, but have also used time pedals that worked well. As far as shoes, try several on, ya gotta go with what fits. buy something comfortable, and not necessarily the top end model or even the most expensive you can afford. comfort is key, if your feet hurt you won't want to ride.

once you go clipless....

I can't ride a bike without clipless pedals, there are alot of systems out there that work well.

I have a Bianchi road Bike with Sidi shoes and Shimano SPD. Clipless is the single most important step to improve efficiency in cycling. Have fun Danny.

can't, or won't? if you can't , then you need to work on your co-ordination.

After reading reviews etc I'm thinking of getting either the LOOK PP-396 Sale: $89.98 or Look PP 357 Sale: $99.99 online and going to the shop to find a shoe that fits. I'm also thinking about the speedplays.
