i have a lot of thoughts on it but i'll add just this cause it's all i have time for:
until last fall when i saw the lovely miss wheatley drop a ten spot into the box, i thought that the donation things was long since dead. had she not done that and i not been there i probably still wouldn't know to drop money in there.
i'll happily make/donate any supplies, money, time into making a nice, visible, informative donation box for mark and torrent.

Saxman, as I was reading your post, I was thinking how everyone has such great ideas but execution is the problem. That's awesome of you to volunteer to do this, Bram. What you're offering to do is, in my opinion, the next generation RRGCC; Climbers seeing problems and doing something to fix it. Offering solutions...
Right on, man!

For starters the RRGCC ad in Ray's guidebook provides the responsible climbing guidelines and could be one side of the handout. At the RRGCC Board meeting Dr. Bob had a draft letter asking for donations which could be the other side. Ryan already has plans to be going around to various crags on several weekends this spring to talk to climbers with our message. So if Sax & maybee several other could coordinate with Ryan we could have coverage throughout the spring break season getting out the flyers and taking our message to visiting climbers.

maybe we could set up a table in the sore heel parking lot, and just have some info on the place...you know, hit folks who are using it. aask for donations and hand out info. only really need to be there early for the first cars to arrive, and then go climbing. i'll volunteer to man a table.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
That's what I'm planning on doing Piggy. I'm starting next weekend. I'd love to have some help. We could cover more parking areas with 2 instead of one.

I heard Terry ranting about this and I remembered quite a few times pointing out Mark to people and they were delighted to finally know who he is. People (locals, tourists) stop at Torrent just to walk around and there are people staying there at the B&B. That said, there are so many people coming in/out of Torrent that climbers may not know who he is. They may assume he's another local stopping to check out the place.charlie wrote: Climbers ... walk up the hill and don't say hey to Mark or Kathy and don't even drop any donations.
