A climbing cal without all the climbing. I think it’s a good idea to try.Wonder if you could do something with the woman outside of climbing . Like showing the lady at work and then showing her with trad rack, bashed up hands and dirty clothes. We have lawyers, doctors, engineers and whatever in the community and seeing the difference would be cool and appeal to more than just the local climber. Women from all over would be proud to hang it in their office and home gym. You could even branch it out to the men. Steph and the ladies know their stuff. I bet whatever they come up with will be kick ass.

Everyday someone new is doing something for the fundraiser. Amazing community.

Oh yeah! Pig, it is my shop. If there is a voting committee I will be involved 100%. You may be an assistant if you desire.

Are there any nice Catholic girls out there? You know, girls with lots of aunts and uncles and grandparents and grandaunts and granduncles and "family" from the parish who would like to pose so we could rack up sales?

Just a thought.

Chester is a vision genious, I liked the idea of a "Focus" calendar a lot, one face staring down the camera. Maybe with an inset of their favorite cam, or tying into their harness, scabbed over knuckles, killer bicep...

Or a little inset of a male climber in drag. ..just to increase the audience appeal.
Anyone work for Barnes and Nobel or other bookstores that might go for some calendars?...If they didn't sell they could take the loss as a donation...?

You could peruse this site, rockclimbing.com, Wes's site, and any number of trip report sites and see them. We wanted to put a different spin on things. Trust us and trust Chester's skills, and if you don't like the finished product, no worries.
I'm guessing from the thread that the plan is to use a 'no set up fee' printing service. (Prior to a few years ago, printing something like a color canendar would cost thousands up front to have the printing plates made, so you had to be sure that you were going to sell a bunch.) If so, then it's no big deal if relatively few are sold.

I think that it's a great idea to include portraits of climbers in this sort of thing, and Chester is certainly a very good portrait photographer! But I do suspect that a calendar that focuses on climbing photos, with the addition of portraits, would be the best seller. Then again, I almost never buy/hang up conventional calendars, so I may not be a good frame of reference for this.

I've thought a bit about what would be involved in putting together a 'coffee table book' of climbing in/climbers of the Red. The same on-demand printing could make this possible. Some history, some landscapes, some action shots, some essays, and some portraits. Could be beautiful, could be something that people who have never climbed at the Red would want to buy...

Again, I trust Chester. I am one of the lawyer-climber-people. While I'm really good at talking smack, I can assure you that I'm only interested in cheap taudry material in theory alone. I'm not interested in participating in cheap, taudry material. If I didn't completely trust her, I wouldn't have been one of the first to sign up. I think it's a great idea. The pictures will be fantastic.

Order excepted, my friend. I've already sold 5! :D

I know Chester will create a beautiful calendar. and if it is sexy, well, women are sexy. I am flattered to be included, wrinkles and all!

If you guys are doing a 'no set up fee' calendar, maybe you could do more than 12 portraits and have the purchaser select the specific portraits for the 12 months that they like best. That way, people can all get exactly what they want their year to look like. Or they can order multiple calendars with different portraits so they could check out one hot chick all day at the office and then another hot chick at home in the kitchen? More variety could equal more sales!!!

Nice idea, Mboss! A choose-your-own-adventure type calendar... we'll see what we can do.

[Added after Tom made the really good point below.] We are getting some ideas as to what pics should go with what month, though, so you may only have one choice. =)
