Calendar for the Cause

Post by Yasmeen »

This weekend, VA and I talked to Chester about a way to merge her amazing photography skills and some hot female climbers in order to raise some money for the Murray Property. I'm not sure of the details yet, except that - despite Wes's generous suggestions - there probably won't be nudity involved.

Chester has offered to devote a Sunday evening (we've set April 16th as a tentative date, and will keep it there unless someone who wants to participate needs us to move it) at Red River Outdoors, where Amy has offered to let us use some space for the photo shoot. We need at least 12 girls, and we're happy to have more. Come clean or dirty, made up or straight from the crag. We've got a couple ideas, with themes ranging from Focus to Women and their Racks (sport racks also welcome).

If you are interested, post a reply or PM me so I can get a list together. Chester is going to take the pictures and touch them up if need be, but we are responsible for getting everyone together for the photo shoot and also for marketing the final product. If anyone has any ideas, we'd love to hear them. We're thinking about setting up a site similar to Wes's Smug Mug site, where you can order the calendars on an as-needed basis, so that we don't waste money if we overestimate the demand. But, we're open to suggestion from people who might be more knowledgeable/experienced with this sort of thing.

That's all... bring it on!

If you all want to use my smugmug site, you are more the welcome to, it is paid for, and I have plenty of space and bandwidth.

Awesome-- thanks a bunch, Wes. So that part of the problem is solved. Now we just need the girls for the photo shoot and we're set. I bet we could pull in a good amount of cash with this project! Come on, ladies... suffer for our art. ;)

Are you gonna do a 2007 calender or an 18 month one covering the rest of 2006 and 2007?

We were thinking a 12-month calendar, and Jen V. had a cool idea for the layout/contents that we will probably pursue. We've already filled at least half of the 12-person quota! :D

I really think this callender would sell well. I havn't ever seen a unattractive female climber.

Anyone who is not available that day would be more than welcome to meet me in my studio in Cincinnati anytime!

Okay, am I the only one offended by this project's apparent exploitation of woman's sexuality?
What's next "Hotties for Humanity"?
I admire the motivation but I question the "art" of it.
However, if dipsi AND spragwa are cool with it I will order the calendar. 8)

of trying is I feel more guilty.
