Most of the states are broke right now. Indiana is re-defining its tax code, and hauling in small buisiness owners, claiming 30,000 and up in back taxes, however, they are enacting the law retro-actively.
Crazy.
Crazy.

Mega corporations don't pay taxes. They make sure (through campaign bribes... I mean, contributions) that there are always gaping holes in tax legislation that will allow them to pay nothing. For instance Exxon paid no taxes last year. Amazing, huh? I bet they pay none this time around either despite record profits. I, on the other hand, as the only employee of my company cannot afford health insurance, and the city is threatening me with a collection agency over $53. Meanwhile Hard Rock Cafe is getting it's collective cock sucked in the mayor's office downtown.

huggybone,
man, i in know way was trying to disrespect you or the profession. i apologize if it came off that way. i was trying to match pig wisdom and pig sarcasm in one post....
let me see if i can dig out of my hole. first, i don't know what charlie means by the most noble profession. i guess we'd need to define noble. if we want to talk about noble professions, wouldn't nurses be in that category? it seems to me that people just knee jerk put these big blessings on teachers, when in reality, like has been stated elsewhere, there are as many chumps in the classroom who are horrible teachers as there are excellent teachers. alot of potential teachers chose other careers because of the money. that is sad...very sad.
anyway, i now just as many folks who went into teaching for the time off as those who did it to "make a difference"....who are we kidding to think everyone who enters any profession is fully virtuous at heart.
but i do stand by this point. if someone doesn't like their job, go get another one.
also, i disagree with your assessment that most states are broke..most states were struggling before the bush tax cuts, but recorded record revenue in 2004 and will do the same in 2005...i'll provide a link shortly.

this is a general view of revenue collected for kentucky...the problem isn't with revenue collection, it is with out of control spending. of course I realize it is much more complicated than this.
huggybone, why is it insane to retro tax collection, esp if they owe it? just because they cheated to not pay initially?

I don't speak for Charlie, but I would guess any of these would do for his definition.
I think most of the Jobs that require a certain amount of emotional stamina when dealing with people on a constant basis in a no win situation is noble.
I agree on the baby sitting thing, you can see it on parents/teachers night. When the teacher is explaining the progress or lack there of to the parent/parents and the minute you say something constructivly critical, they attack you. They say it's all your fault, although up to that point they were not active in the childs education past dropping them off at school.

I guess when your doing a job for the love of it and it becomes hard you should just give up and get a factory job where you dont have to be anything but be an automaton. I'm basing this on the idea, that the nobility Charlie is refering to, is in the definitions I posted, if not, the post office is hiring. Btw I'm not attacking your statements, just trying to get to the skinny of them, alot of times I agree with some of your political rhetoric

Perhaps we would be more civil and intelligent if school teachers didn't suck so much ass, but then again the demofags need as many voting blocks as thay can get, blacks, hispanics, fags, teachers etc. vote the party not the thought process and we pay.
I don't know if it will stand up in court, but I think it's a little more tangible than Hear say
