Easy Ideas

Post by RRO »

Sorry I have been absent a little from the board. We have been all over the last few days. Just wanted to get a forum for ideas that could be easy to implement. We were also sitting around and throwing out ideas with JR and Zack. Some are off the wall.

1. Aluminum can drive. Get everyone to put a box at work, school, business and gyms. Miguel,RRO,TN,TF and anyone else we can get locally. I would take care of taking to the center and giving the cash to Charlie/Michelle.
2. Card Tournament this season at Miguel’s or Marks (due to easier beer consumption than my place). Entry fee of "x", get donated booty and then end of year points wins some big stuff. We may have to buy some stuff but if the entry were big enough it would pay off. Poker is huge right now with the young crowd.
3. Full on Casino night. Isn’t it legal for a charity to host something like this?
4. Jack Osborne. I guess he is a climber now. Get him down here. I’m sure we could put him up in a nice place, feed him and have guides available the whole time. Once he sees what’s up I’m sure he would open his wallet.
5. Climb for Cash event this spring. Co-workers, family and neighbors are always jumping on charity walk-a-thons, jump ropes and so on. Get so much per route, foot or whatever. This has been brought up a few times, I really think this would work.
6. Affiliate programs. Google, Ecampus.com,Mgear.com,Amazon they all offer referral/link programs. This has not worked well in the past but has never been pushed nationally. Most companies will give 10-15 points and you can use them however. Say if you get 15 points you give the customer a 5-point incentive to order and then the fundraiser gets 10. Nothing invested except advertising and keeping the word going. This is theory hurts the local guys but lets all be honest most buys at our shop are impulse/necessity buys plus the long term goal of saving the climbing is more beneficial to all.

Just a few thoughts on some easy moneymakers.

HA! I thought of Jack Osborne too!

Stupid, probably, but I posted on Ozzy's forum asking for contact info for Jack. Doubt I'll get a bite but it's worth a try!
Does he have a strange bear claw like appendage protruding from his neck? He kep petting it.

If he comes could we put up a route for him and name it "Jack Attack"?
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

So an Idea I had for an event to raise money was a Hacky Sack tournament at my Gym. Maybe some other gyms or Miguels could try the same.
Oh man, he is messing that up. However, he is missing his left leg so that way would probably be harder for him. SCIN, just before spraying some beta for a climber doing a route the WRONG way.

How about one of those endurance trail runs.
