that's what I love about politics..those who don't agree with us are easily labelled extremists, and our personal views are always rational, well-thought out systematic treatises on what is wrong in America. of course, we all believe our personal views to be the only true path to enlightened humanity.

now, all you left wing extremists and right wing extremists gather round for some koom- by-yah...the moderate and always correct pigmeister is leading a weekend retreat for recovering partisans. we will have reagan apologize for iran-contra, bush 1 apologize for new taxes, clinton apologize for somalia and everything hillary, and bush 2 for pretending to be an intellectual.

JFK and Nixon will be our weekend moderators as the only TRUE and HONEST individuals to ever live in the white house.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

So what was incorrect in my statement?

Hitler did not declare war on us before we took interest in him, personal or otherwise. WW2 started 9/1/39 with the invasion of Poland, Britain declared war on the Axis soon after, we supplied Britain materially in their war effort till 12/7/41 without becoming militarily engaged. We were materially involved in opposing Hitler for years before formal hostilities were declared, either by him towards us or vice versa. Read up about Charles Lindberg, the first trans-atlantic flight guy, who was a Nazi sympathizer and did everything he could (with some success) to keep us out of WW2 while London was being terrorized with aerial fire bombing.

Oh wait...you don't read, you're a right wingnut. Sorry. Blather on.

So you're wanting to split hairs over what we define as "personal interest?" I meant it as, beyond supplying of war materials, when we decided to actually start fighting against Germany.

bushwacker says.......
Bush 41 sent U.S. troops to Somalia after he got voted out of office as a humanitarian gesture, Clinton inherited it ...go watch "Black Hawk Down", they should show that movie non-stop along with "3 Kings" and "the Battle of Algiers"...

Typical, quoting movies as a source of creditable facts on a subject, thats like watching CNN to get real unbiased news).
I was in the Army in 93, two of my freinds were there with the 10th Mountain
(UN Detachment) also I have read the Debreifings (after declassified in 2004)
as well as the book written by two Rangers directly involved in the conflict.
I will refer to they're experience and the real time intel I was privy to for the true version of the facts.... I guess clinton did'nt order any cruise missle attacks that destroyed an aspirin factory that was a supposed chemical weapons plant/terrorist camp??? wag the dog??? Oh wait he was too busy sticking Cuban Missles up Monicas weapons factory!!

why only pick on cnn? let's put them all on the line.

to think that any one news source is going to give you "the Truth" is like going to the encyclopedia to do a term paper.
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

this is moronic. we're doomed.
this is so oblivious to historical fact . Your being in the Army or your friends being in the thick of it, cannot warp time and space. Or impress any rational person to agree with 'Clinton took us to Somalia'

We're so much better at this stuff today
It's a good thing we don't lean too heavily on our intel resources, someone might start a war or something. bomb a Chinese consulate or something. kill several tens of thousands of innocent people.
By default I thank anyone for their service in the military. Some of what I hear anymore makes me wonder about that.

gulliver spouts.....
"this is moronic"

Yeah, not reading peoples threads is one thing, but spouting off before you know what your talking about is another.

gulliver again...
Or impress any rational person to agree with 'Clinton took us to Somalia'

I did'nt state he had taken us there, but once we were and he was the President, his failure to let the military run the missions as we should have resulted in those Rangers deaths. He was under alot of pressure to capture ADID and kept putting the Rangers in uneeded danger.

And again....
Your being in the Army or your friends being in the thick of it, cannot warp time.

When you've been there, you dont have to warp anything, soldiers tend to leave fact warping to the politicians and the leftwing malcontents. if you bothered to read this whole post you would see I am not taking sides, I don't care for Bush much either and have agreed to alot of anti-current goverment slander, however people tend to try and see only one side(they're side) when making statements about other peoples opinions, then if they don't agree, right or wrong, they try and tear it down. Say what you will, it is you who need to get your facts straight, as far as the comment about soldiers and thanking them, YOUR WELCOME, ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM!!!!!!!!

quote:
" I did'nt state he had taken us there"

It seemed implied with the quote of bushwacker's correction of zspider and your jump
to "movies as a source of creditable facts". I could have misread it. It was awkward.
I have read all the thread. what facts am I having problems with?

Why would you agree with slander?
