Online Auction

Hey folks,

I'm creating the Auction Forum and need help thinking of categories and rooms for the Forum. I have three categories so far. Any others? What about rooms?

1. Climbing - how many rooms? I.e. hardware (bolts, pitons, biners...), equipment (harnesses, ropes, backpacks...). Or just keep one main room?
2. Camping
3. Miscellaneous

So what type of categorizing makes sense?

I think the three you have there are pretty good. Just one room for climbing would be best, I think - keep it simple. Maybe add one for "services"?

What about Auction charges? You should see all that we can do with this thing! We can charge a $1 base price for the auction, a percentage of the winnings...is this something we should do or just let people do this as a free service and trust them to donate their winnings?

I think trust is the best thing, with the warning that we will OUT anyone caught doing anything less.

The "charge" would be an instant donation, which would be cool. I vote no anyway, though. Although it sounds okay, it may deter people from using the service.

The online auction is pretty much ready. I just need to change the terms of use. Does anyone have something to auction first to "test the waters"? KD?

FYI...from my testing I've learned that when the auction ends it's left to the buyer and seller to figure out shipping and payment via PMs. So the auction essentially just brings buyer and seller together, then it's out of our hands.

yes put up the number three tech friend. it's brand new but the old style. about "good hand" size. perfect for roadside.
