Climbers don't come off too bad in this piece.
Thanks Bill for your continued involvement with the process and giving climbers a voice (reasonable at that) in the process.

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Have been waiting for that to come out. It was originally scheduled for 12/27. Tim Eling has recently updated the Forest Service LAC web page (http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/boone/lac/) and you should check it out if you are interested in this process. The next LAC workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, January 31, 2006 and Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in Winchester. In the next step of the LAC process measurable standards will be determined. Along with these standards will come limits, that if exceeded, will require some type of management action (i.e. closure, maintenance, etc.).
It should also be realized that I am not the only climber involved in these meetings. Climbers have a strong presence with Shannon Stuart-Smith and Dwight Bradburn also regularly attending meetings. Other climbers or climbing friendly individuals who have occassionally attended meetingsand/or are following the process include: Steve & Jill Kaufmann, Jim Holzman, Larry Riddle, and Jeff Kennedy. Chris Carr, the researcher mentioned in the article, is also a climber.
