I think Jesus was about the fact that his kingdom was not an earthly one yet, for the earthly kingdom to function smoothly God gave us the Ten Commandments, but the presence of Satan aka ACLU trys and is usually successful at screwing things up- learn to love God, then yourself, then your enemies, then everyone but the jive turkeys who don't see things the way you do

Man, I thought the 3 things you don't talk about in mixed company are Polotics, Religion, And Sex.....
I see the first 2 on here already, lets talk about sex!!!!!! or at'least something else. I am a Christian, but I also respect other peoples beliefs and cultures. I am of an opinion that you can say whatever you want as a greeting this season to one another as long as it's civil, however, Christmas is about Christ. I grew up with Santa Clause and my child will grow up with Santa as well, but she will know the real celebration in our family will be about the birth of Jesus. I do not inflict my belief on anyone and would fight and die for anyones right to believe they're own way. The whole happy holidays thing only bothers me because of the Capitalist trend to not want to offend the buying masses, at a time that was not originally about buying the latest nike's or the talking Dora kitchen set. I am going to buy stuff, and I am going to buy it at the stores that have"Happy Holidays" on the windows, do I care?, Yes, but I am also a realist, sometimes you have to sacrifice beliefs for reality. I will be called a hypocrite and Christians have/will not call me a true believer, but like the majority of Christians, I am not a zealot. I have climbed with or talked to alot of you, have I ever said or did you know my Religious beliefs??? In closing, I wish all of you a Mery Christmas, Happy Hollidays, and a Happy New Year. :D

interesting side bar about labeling groups, when Tookie murdered his victims, or whenever there is black on hispanic, asian white or whatever it is crime but when blacks or gays get in the fray its a freaking hate crime

okay... sounds fair. at the diner this morning i heard some folks agreeing with themselves about it.

older gent customer: "you have a merry christmas"
sweet older server lady: "thanks... and thanks for saying 'christmas'"
ogc: "yeah, nobodies gonna tell me i can't say merry christmas, it's all about Christ anyway... stupid pagan democrats"
sosl: "you ain't kidding. this country gets more ungodly all the time"
me under my breath and over my coffee: "damn straight... including right now"

so, what bothers me is that if Christianity is being "hijacked", why is it happening so damn easily.

the biggest trick the devil ever played........

Wow.

I think hyjacking occurs for a few reasons, but principally because people desire power and control over themselves and their environment, and I think the most natural way to do that is to get peopel to agree with you. And if that doesn't work, you judge them. Which, as yoda might say, is a path to the dark side.

(I just watched all 6 star wars movies!)
