Huggy, I actually like Kris. But he's always wrong! I wait for others to hack on him for being so abrasive but no one does it. Sigh, it's up to me to right the wrongs. Seriously though, if it bothered him he'd tell me and I'd stop.

Stop and think about the people saying this.
I think that you might find that they are the occasional climbers that can only get out every few weekends to climb. They make the most of their trips, focusing on climbing fun routes and emphasizing fun over numbers.
Your average 5.12 climber probably climbs 3+ days a week, at least one of those on real rock on average. They train, both physically and mentally, just to be able to climb at that grade. They project, just to be able to do a certain route. To the casual viewer watching them send this project of theirs, it certainly doesn't look like any fun..... climb, fall, climb, fall, climb, clip, hang, climb fall, repeat ad naseum.
