every now and again, i'll be climbing and feel this constant, painful burning right along my sternum. it gets worse when i try to pull moves that would make my pectorals flex. it feels like if i pull too hard on some moves that i'll break my chest in two. and it's not just while i'm climbing, it's there throughout the day and i can feel it if i put my shoulders back. i can never figure out why this happens; there's no obviously common factor each time it pops up. usually i just try to ignore it, stretch a bit more before climbing (though it doesn't seem to help) and just push through. after about a week or two it usually goes away.
does this ever happen to anyone else? any idea as to what it might be or if there's anything i can do?

seems like i get that feeling when doing dips. and when im climbing with i breathe in deep i get alil pain in my chest. so yea i experience this as well and dont have a clue how to ignore it.
Who Me? I gotta hitch hike god damn 18 miles to get a god damn beer......that's bullshit.
there is this mass of cartilage below the sternum call the xiphoid process that can get sore. In some people it is more pronounced, like mine and if you are doing lots of ab stuff you can kinda tweak the mucles around it and make it sore. At least this is what happened to me once.
