Climbing Pet Peeves
Climbing Pet Peeves
I think I'm just getting old and grouchy because I notice that I have more and more climbing pet peeves the older I get. I have two that immediately come to mind but I'm sure I have more:
1. It bugs me when draws are hung with the bent gate on the bolt and the straight gate for clipping. Why own draws with different biners and not use them consistently for how they're designed to be used?
2. It bugs me when anchor draws are hung on the last chain link or rap ring because it makes cleaning more time consuming.
Anyone else have any?

People stepping on ropes or people returning ropes without flaking it. I also hate it when there's debris (ie: dirt/leaves/etc) in the ropebag. I guess I'm very anal about my rope.
I also hate it when people do not tie a back up knot, I refuse to belay them when they don't tie one.

Crowds bug me.

1) hyper females that won't shut up
2) people's dogs running over my things (including rope)...and then they just yell at them instead of coming to get them off my things (mainly while I'm belaying)
3) people doing the same as #2
4) route hogs
5) people that I don't even know asking me to use my rope...when they don't even own their own...or draws...exception...if I was planning on getting on the same route after
6) that damn kinky in my rope

~having black shit all over my hands/face/neck/chest from my dirty-ass rope.
~when bouldering, everyone sitting on there crash pads instead of using them for crashing.
~stick clips leaning on trees when someone is sketching to get to the first bolt
~dirty routes

mine goes kinda falls along with artsay's comments on the quickdraw thing except with a little bit more reasoning. i always use my solid gate biner on the bolt and wire gate on the rope. i have a few draws with wires on both ends and then the red biner is the bolt side because that coordinates with my other draws. i do this cause the bolt biner gets chewed up and i don't want it to be running over my rope cutting away at the sheath. i am kinda anal about it when other people are using my gear, especially when cleaning cause people don't always realize what they're clipping into.
