is there a button you can click on to send a pm? there is the icon below individual posts, but not something in the menu where you can directly send one? maybe i'm just missing something.

YEa, at the top click the thing that says "You have no new messages"

Hey Horatio, you can also click on someone's name, it will pull up their profile, and there is a 'send pm' button there you can use.

I missed you guys... is that sick?
