Looking for Climbing Instructor in the cincinnati area

Post by bp_968 »

I am looking for a climbing instructor in the cincinnati area for my wife. She has been climbing off and on for a while and climbs around 5.5-5.6. I am an *awful* teacher, thus the need for an instructor

Thanks!

So your back in town. Or did you ever leave? I'm a lousy teacher too so don't look at me.

Been in town the whole time. Just got sick  . I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis back about 2 years ago now and it made climbing pretty difficult. Its more under control now so I am wanting to get back out and do some more climbing. Especially since I see the rest of the old crew chewing the rocks up and me, I doubt I could even climb a 5.10 anymore :(

You still going out 2-3 times a month? And how is that #5 camalot I sold you working out? ;)

Tara no longer works at RQ...but is still a super climber teacher...she climbs some at climb time now....I had the awesome experience of getting to climb with her and her husband all day at Hound Ears...

BP...there are some girls that come on Tue/Thur at climb time if you happen to want to plastic boulder...except the most outgoing of us won't be there for about 3 weeks...

...on Tue there's another beginner girl that has been coming with her boyfriend...maybe they could learn together?...she's super nice

I can at least point out easier stuff...

When you say "on and off", is that enough for her to develop some forearm strength? Until she has some strength to work with, instruction will not be so beneficial. Getting strength takes time in the gym or on the rock.

Just take her climbing, Ben. If she's climbing 5.6, she'll get better naturally. Sounds like you can just grow together on the rock.

Welcome home! :D

Hopefully your situation isn't too bad, but I'm thiking of the "boyfriend/girlfriend as ski instructor" disaster or the "my wife just needs some prodding to climb" scenario.

Getting a third party involved sounds like a wise move.
