Post by keith_b00ne »

It has been a while since I have been to the Red. Is road #9 open yet?

:( Will they ever fix it? It has just been way to long. I was thinking about going to Pistol Ridge, but that is a long walk from the gate.

Maybe the FS 9 status should be posted in 50 font on the main page so we don't have the weekly "is it open" thread?

The trail head to Pistol Ridge is only 1 mile from road block. Easy walk on a gravel road. Its no worse than the approach to any of the climbs in the valley. Take bikes.

Yeah...it's a good warmup for the approach...which is really the crux of the journey.

Contact the Forest Service and tell them you'd like the road to be fixed as soon as possible. Call straight to the headquarters 859 745-3100, operators are standing by.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

It seems that there may be two options to dealing with this on the board:

1) Scan all new posts and block any that contain "FS 9"*

2) Scan all new posts and if any mention "FS 9"*, an 'auto-responder' posts that, no, it isn't open and won't be soon - walk. (or be lazy like me, and climb somewhere else)
