The Rawl 5 piece is now the Power Bolt. It is still being produced by Powers Fasteners. I just bought 5 boxes for Miguel.

Should donations to the 'community route repair drill fund' just be dropped at RRO, or is there a Team Suck Swiss/Nigerian bank account fund we can do EFTs into?

cool stuff, i'll put somethin' in on it. I really support the educational part of it. Some kind of anchor drilling schooling should be a prerequisite for putting up anchors.

Gullwing,
Placing a bolt/fixing an anchor isn't rocket science. Rick Weber of Muir Valley fame wrote a great overview you should read. http://www.muirvalley.com/pdf/BoltingBook.pdf
Here is another educational link:
http://www.safeclimbing.org/
Buy a drill, spend some bucks on good anchors, and start fixing anchors.
I'm not sure I'm into the whole community tools thing. If you ever worked at a construction job, you will notice that the boss never provides tools for everyone. Nobody takes care of them unless they are the owners. I bought a used Bosch Bulldog on e-bay for 50 bucks. Wire up some NiMH batteries and you are good to go.
Yeah the forest service is all for good anchors and all against death in the woods.

This is a copied message from Ray Pantess, the FA of coffee talk.

Been travelling too much to keep tabs on the route(s). If I had time,
I
would refit the anchors, probably putting in a bigger bolt and
resealing it
with caulk. Anyway, If there is a forum on that site, you could
mention it,
and also say taht I wouldn't mind better anchors there, and I'd do it
myself, except I've been trqvelling too much to visit.

Appreciate it!! Next visit I'll be sure to check on it and redo it if
it
hasn't already been done.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
