Southern Region maps

Post by michaelzr2 »

I was looking at the RRGCC kiosk at Migel's this weekend and I noticed two or three nice guides to the areas around sore heel. I looked at the coalition's site but found nothing. Does anyone have these or know where to get them?

On the front page of this site click "Southern Region Map". You can also purchase the guidebook to the entire Red on the front page of this site.

Its not the one on the main page. It was of the sore heel areas and another area. I already have the new guidebook and love it. Thanks for the help.

The maps are in the final stages of being made publicly available as a mini-guide to Sore Heel Hollow, along with a complete listing of all routes info, very soon. The maps you saw were completed a few weeks ago after Johnny and Alex Crag Day so as to include all the new routes bolted (and a few more since) and a whole new crag, Bronaugh Wall. I am putting the finishing touches on the maps and finializing the route info and will be turning it all over to Dr. Bob Matheny, the Pendergrass-Murray Rec Preserve land manager, as quickly as I can. Then the RRGCC plans to make the Sore Heel Hollow guide available. Dr. Bob posted the maps on the kiosk, since they were completed first, to help climbers out during peek climbing weather until I get the Sore Heel Hollow mini-guide completed...which looks like, if all goes well, will be the end of the this week. Dr. Bob and/or Bill Strachan should be able to provide more info about how the RRGCC plans to distribute them.

Is the Bronaugh Wall refering to the wall that was always known as the Inner Circle but then someone stole the sign and tried to hide the trail going to it so that way people didn't climb there?

Also, does your new map include Chica Bonita Wall?

I saw the maps at the Kiosk at the parking lot. Very nice. The trail markers are nice for first timers too. I hadn't been there since before oil crack closed. I was impressed with all the good work and nice routes.

They will be headed your way soon. We are in the process of putting together a mini-guide for the Coalition Property. Sorry to take so long.
