i didn't know i needed credibility to state the obvious. and i didn't give any opinions one way or the other. or maybe i did..?
by the way, back to the topic, the research is pretty much bogus anyway. a sample size of ten is pretty shaky ground on which to lay any type of conclusion.

Damn, charlie am I just apotted plant.
I have 2 kids. They changed my life. Things are more complicated. Every day is a new series of challenges to survive, teach(by example), apologize, forgive, accept ...it can be harder than hell but amazing.
Tell me my opinion matters...that I matter

of trying is I feel more guilty.

As always...examples are being taken far too literally. My point with the apple example is that it does not have to be expensive to choose the right foods for your child. That obese child is obviously not going hungry being 8 years old & 250 lbs...someone is making the wrong choices there & lots of them. Not only is the child eating the wrong foods but there has to be overconsumption & underactivity in that equation too.
My family was very poor...we never had any junk food in our home. If we wanted something to eat it had to be cooked and we didn't get 4 servings when we did eat. And guess where we were when we were playing? Not sitting in front of a tv eating doritos...we were outside climbing trees & getting dirty like kids should.
When I was little...all the poor kids were super skinny! It's silly to think that just because the families are low income that they are too stupid to realize they are doing the wrong thing.
This has gotten under my skin more than I should've allowed so I'm bowing out now. I really worry about my daughter growing up in a world where it's acceptable to be overweight just because it is the norm.

Sorry I'm picking on y'all, just going for context......
Stating the obvious..... (what you consider obvious)
Experience with families in the situation......(as a primary care giver, over the course of a decade, all situations being equal and standard for the discussion)
So, it amazes me how people can honestly think they are in a position to tell other people how they should live their life. The simple fact that LLR feels I am unqualified to raise a child is a typical example of the assumptions that lead to pretensions around here. I'm pretty sure if I'm ever cursed with offspring my kids will be just as likely (if not more so) to take over the world than anybody else's.

That's the point I'm trying to make, not just about kids but about everything. People do the things they do for millions of different reasons, many of which aren't even known to them. As a project manager trying to improve processes/systems in a pretty big corporation you learn a lot about perceptions and assumptions. More often than not what you assume to be true is at best a snapshot of the reality. In my experience, it's ALWAYS more complicated and complex a situation than you thought it was.Christian wrote:..... Things are more complicated. and that's all i'm trying to point out, too. while diggum might be looking forward and thinking long-term nutrition, others might not be able to plan past next month, next week.. so nutrition just isn't a priority. i'm not saying it's right or wrong, only saying that's where they might be coming from.charlie wrote:People do the things they do for millions of different reasons, many of which aren't even known to them.
