Where is a good place for instruction?

I live near the red and finally have some time during the week to go climbing but where it's been so long I'd like to get some professional help to oversee that I'm getting back into it the safe way. Is there any instruction you can get private for 2hrs? or is it strictly 4/8hrs and groups preferred?

Re: How cold is too cold for you guys?

I'd say it really depends on how well your hands function in the cold since everyone is different, I've worked outside this nasty winter and noticed that without gloves I couldn't move my fingers while noticing some of my co-workers not having that problem and warming your hands up is a very short f...

Re: Climbers looking to learn March 9-15

I'm also new so I've noticed myself bouldering a lot in Rowan County, I know there has to be all kinds of spots but just opening up my RRG book I see somewhere called "friction slap" from miguel's, drive south on KY 11 toward roadside crag for 2.5 miles until you see a large boulder close ...

Alpinestar - take the $40 you saved on rope and commit to doing this event if you can still get in. This is a steal to have a professional guide give you instruction. http://www.meetup.com/lexington-climbing-meetup/events/166966292/ That's my weekend to work but I called today and paid for my wife ...

Can any GPS users give me some advice?

I purchased the RRG climbing guide book and noticed that most the spots listed has handheld GPS coordinates so I figured a purchasing a GPS wouldn't be a bad investment since I only get weekends off and don't want to spend them lost/confused, cell phone signal drops too often and that I can also use...

Re: Is a 142ft rope too short for climbing? - beginner

I thought my wife and her friend was experienced with there talk about rock climbing so I started checking into it as a new hobby for the spring and found that they know absolutely nothing, of course I'm clueless too so it makes for a very frustrating situation. I'm basically youtubing, googling and...

Re: Is a 142ft rope too short for climbing? - beginner

I'm sadly being serious, I'm not planning to throw myself on a side of a cliff anytime soon so constructive criticism would be helpful. The question about quick draws was how many do you need and is it possible to get to the top of some of the climbs and not have to lead climb? About the length of t...

Is a 142ft rope too short for climbing? - beginner

A buddy got me into rappelling and I got excited and got a 200ft rope which is much longer than what I need which has been a little bit of headache to pack around so when I found out that climbing was where it was at I found myself needing a dynamic rope so I did a little research and found out that...

Re: Where are some good places to go rappelling?

Top of Eagle Point Buttress is always a good rap. Nice hike in and scenery out the ying yang. Attempted to go there today but got started too late in the day and couldn't exactly figure out where it was, we parked there after the concrete bridge and I believe the main 7mi trail was called the osbou...
