I couldn't find any posts that answered my question, and I researched quite a bit, but mostly found information about bolting procedures. Figured I'd ask the community that actually climbs at RRG to see if it was an issue.ReachHigh wrote:you could use the search feature. or do some research.

Re: Bolts that pull out?
jonlong724? bolts "pulling out"? & most surprisingly, 2 pages of replies? troll Yeah man, you caught me. I'm obviously trolling since it would be completely inconceivable for a new climber to wonder about the integrity of bolts. I have nothing better to do with my time than troll clim...

Probably a dumb question...
Is there any reason why you shouldn't clip a quickdraw to the rope first, then clip it to the bolt? Seems like you could save yourself an extra reach.

Re: Bolts that pull out?
What climbing website have you been hanging out at that suggest that bolts pulling is a common thing? I haven't seen anything that says it's common, and I've only read about a few instances of it. I'm just trying to account for as much as possible so that I can feel comfortable about my safety. I h...

Re: Bolts that pull out?
Thanks for the reassuring comments so far. In response to the response above - of course I have more learning to do. I am new to this. I'm comfortable with climbing indoors, but climbing outdoors is a very different experience. I'm seeking information from all the resources I can: books, experienced...

Bolts that pull out?
I'm a new climber and I'm getting ready for my first trip down to RRG (also my first experience climbing outdoors). My biggest concern is bolts breaking or pulling out on a fall, since it's not something that I can really prepare for. I'll probably be climbing in the 5.7-5.10 range. Have bolts been ...

Re: Noob questions - rope length and stick clip
Thanks for the response. When you say 60m is fine for a noob, what do you mean by that? I suppose a more apt question is what is a rule of thumb for rope length and height of a climb (as listed in the guidebook). 60 m = 196 feet, so I should be able to climb anything up to about 100 feet?

Noob questions - rope length and stick clip
What rope length should I get for sport climbing at RRG? I've been told that 60m is sufficient for most, but I don't want to rule about a bunch of good routes because I need a longer rope. Also, is a stick clip handy to have? If the first bolts are pretty high, I'd rather clip for safety, since I do...
