kinda related so hopefully not hijacking a thread, but do most of you keep a rope log? What kind of info do you keep in the log?

why is it that avid climbers are so against rappelling? I did it a lot in the military and had a blast. May not be the other side of the coin, but regardless its a big thing to do in Red River Gorge, which is why i found this site. Maybe in the wrong place?
