Re: The Kentucky Wall

Thanks for the historical info. I've always wondered what the reason for the climbing/bolting ban was, and that's some good insight. You mention 150+ miles of "user defined trails". What does that mean? Are those unsanctioned trails made "illegally" without the permission of the ...

Re: FIRST TIME IN THE GORGE

Good advice from milspec - if you are looking to ball on a budget, you can use this site and print out paper notes. Works very well. Good 11d's and 12a's? Holy shit, there's a million. My favorite 11d in the gorge is definitely The Infidel at Funk Rock. That climb alone is worth the hike in my opini...

Re: Miller Fork access

What time will you be out Dyercurt? I may be heading to MF on Saturday morning. If so, I can bring a chainsaw and get the tree cut up and moved.

Re: Poverty and Rock Climbing

Yea.... It seems like the article has a pretty arrogant tone, and to me it seems laughable that people who have been climbing in the gorge for years and years ("the guidebook author") are less connected to the local community than somebody who comes down a few times per year. Also, meth is...

Re: Call for Submissions: In the RED

I've heard the Dick Doctor story (top notch), but never the My Bro Just Sent Twinkie story. Any way an entertaining summary can be provided here?

Re: Agonizingly Close....

Good story Nick! And so, so true!

I think think I'm going to take up trad climbing full time and leave the bolt clipping behind. I've heard that training for trad climbing mostly entails drinking beer and bitching about sackless sport climbers. I could get into that kind of scene.

Hell yea! I saw that picture on Facebook and tried to like it a million times, but it would only let me do one. The cave looks WAY different with no chalk or permas. Awesome!

Re: Agonizingly Close....

Orange Juice. I went to Funk Rock and got agonizingly close to getting on it. But unfortunately every single person at the crag was in line for it. I probably would have done it though, so I ticked it in my book. And downgraded it.
