Re: Life Insurance for Climbers
I went through the nurse visit and interview for a policy when I was about 43 or so. They did ask about high risk sports, such as sky diving and climbing in their interview. I answered "yes" to climbing, and it moved me from the "preferred" category to the "regular" cat...

Partner for 11/7 or 11/8?
Hi, Weather permitting, I am looking for a climbing partner either this Saturday the 7th or Sunday the 8th. I live in Cincinnati. I'm an experienced trad climber, and I'm also open to climbing sport routes. Either way, I'm up for leading and climbing routes into the 5.10 grade. Please contact me via...

Re: Alliance Grant Challenge
OK, so I just donated $56, we only need 1 more person to donate an even $50 to get $500! Please don't pass up a 1000% return on your investment. It is really important for climbers to own climbing areas. Nobody else cares about your passion.

Re: Re-slinging Cams
Use either 5.5mm Tech-cord (5k test N. E. Ropes), tied off with a double or triple fisherman's knot, or 9/16'' "super tape", also tied off with a double fisherman's knot. Tighten under body weight, and check the knots when you rack up. 1'' tubular webbing is sub-optimal because the increas...

Re: Rap vs. Lower
When you rap, you control your decent. When you lower, your belayer controls your decent. So I guess the answer depends on who you climb with...

Re: How unsafe is climbing?
There's an "old saying" in climbing: Its easy to climb hard for 30 years and die of old age; what's hard is living though the first two or three years....

I prefer trad routes, but I'm also happy to climb sport routes. Just send me an email and we'll see if we can work out the l...
