Re: Bad bolt on resurrection

With more of the bolt exposed and unsupported it will create a lot more torque and thus put a lot more force on the remaining rock. Even if what is left looks solid it may fracture with this extra load. Good call replacing it.

Re: Geek Question

I don't have anything that I can recommend, but you should be aware of some things with regard to security. If you are going to allow sharing of word documents so that people can edit them on their own computers there will be a copy of the document stored on their computer as a result of the edit. T...

Re: Spam

Picture identification works well to stop those things. For example, a 3x3 grid of pictures with the task of selecting only the cats. In this case you could make it climbing-specific so that it's highly unlikely that anyone will spend the time to write a bot to break it. Select the pictures of passi...

Re: Stolen gear

Yeah, I expect the odds of my recovering anything are quite low. Really my biggest hope is that they somehow catch the guy, and that he gets a nice fat charge of grand theft for what to him was just a pile of crap worth a few bucks.

Re: Rocktoberfest 2010!! what did u think?

Last year the band jammed for hours and that was the highlight for me. This year they were going to start about 1.5 hrs late, but just played one song and then left. That was very disappointing. Maybe next year we can get 23 string to play for 3 hours like they did at trail day? That would really to...

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report

Left Field, Sunday, saw someone belaying with a gri-gri, left hand on the cam, right hand on the climber side of the rope for the entire duration of the climb. Me: "Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt, but there have been a lot of accidents lately where people have accidentally held down the c...

Re: Dynamic rope severed

It is not just the usual "fall catching" zone that can be dangerously worn. I saw a biner taken down off of ale-8 where the gate had been worn to a razor edge with a point because of the way the rope would run over it. This thing was no butter knife, it was a freshly sharpened steak knife....

I was out at funk rock last weekend and got to see some of the progress on this project. Great job so far guys. I especially appreciate the new anchor location for hardcore jollies, it makes belaying up a second for island in the sky much easier.
