Re: yellow brick road ?

If you go out right at the 3rd bolt then up, which is how I've seen most people do it (though you can go left and traverse back), its always been very reachy. At 5'11" I had to hop a bit - couldn't stick it static. Crux for me was always staring a the slabby pendulum fall and deciding whether o...

Can the Zoo handle the increased traffic? Seems every year the trail along the base connecting the slab to the amphitheater gets narrower as mossy rooty chunks fall away under climber feet...

As a weaksauce out-of-towner who buys the newest guidebook on the day it is released, and checks the online guidebook once a week for new routes, I say keep it to yourself for a while. If you post it, we'll come with our dogs, hammocks, and hordes of gumby friends to chalk the ever-loving crap out o...

Re: Pully Injury Prevention

Obviously I know taping can help Not so obvious, and depending on your exact meaning, possibly not true. Taping to restrict range of motion can prevent you from getting into full crimp position, but there's no evidence (and some evidence to the contrary) that taping will help support the pulleys an...

Re: climber decks, kills dog?

Exactly. I use my thumb, index and middle to hold the cam, leaving two fingers loosely wrapped around the rope. Try it without the fingers. Hold the brake end with 4 fingers, and just press down on the cam with your thumb. Since you are pulling rope up with your other hand its enough force to disen...

I'm not sure, but I think you just suggested that the Weber's pay us for pitching in and taking care of the property. Is there an emoticon on here for when your head explodes? This is based on there being more financial support than what is necessary to pay for the maintenance items. Of course, I a...

i dont know, man, i disagree. we americans have a mentality whereby if you throw enough money at a situation, it will go away. not true (see: katrina, 911, haiti earthquake, etc). money helps buy wood, gravel, rebar, etc.....but actually paying someone for labor is more complicated and really i don...

the problem the Weber's are having seems to be only partially a financial one. Given enough financial resources the manpower problem can be taken care of. Im sure there are plenty of climbers who wouldn't mind making a few $ in exchange for morning parking lot duty, some bathroom cleaning, pothole ...
