Reckon I'll get the an ATC (XP maybe) and then the shunt, and then more gear, and some more stuff, and then there'll be something I just can't live without... But what about if I don't get the goods right away and I'm stuck with the old figure eight for a while longer? Has anybody heard of or tried ...

What about the shunt?
I'm thinking about getting a Petzl Shunt. Does anyone have experience using one and what do you think of its performance? Any opinion or advice is welcome.

Black Diamond Enduro Quickdraws

petzl basic
I recently purchased a petzl basic ascender and it worked really well. I backed it up with a prussik that I pushed up along the rope as I climbed. I bundled the rope at the bottom to weight it. The rope fed thru the ascender with no problems.
