Re: Carabiner snapped in a fall

Only one suggestion/comment - hang the draw with the gate facing away from your direction of intended travel. The moves past that bolt are up and right so the gate should be facing left. May or may not have had any impact on the outcome though. That's a bit freaky for sure! Exactly. Most pe...

Re: Ondra Patrol

That graph by Adam is one of the finest posts I have ever seen. Awesome. Perhaps slightly behind the grapefruit graph.

Yes I think the right bolts should be re-installed and the left bolts removed. Heck even Hugh says if he had seen the holds out right he probably would've put the bolts out there in the first place. Just like I think the fourth draw on Thanatopsis can be moved to the left. I think bolts should get m...

Use them for cleaning bolts and directionals on steep lines but make sure to replace them with proper strength bolts if they are to be climbed on. If they are cheap enough that is a great alternative than wasting a full strength bolt for a cleaning bolt.

This is awesome. I'm in Spain, it's pissing rain, I'm bored so I open up the computer to find my inbox flooded with emails! Something to do! Something to think about! Yes! I don't condone Joe stealing draws (shame, shame) but honestly I think I should have pulled the left bolts last year. I didn't s...

I thought about this whole issue last night and the funny thing is I wrote an article about it last year. http://www.mikedoyle.ca/roadtrip/roadtrip_vs_local.shtml I'm a roadtripper, you guys are local. You're trying to find harder routes so you have something to work, I'm trying to do routes the eas...

The bolts should stay, but I think we can all agree that these are two completely different routes. Whoever first did the route with the new bolts should now name the route and grade it. Something like "50 words for pump, the Doyle variation" What I am trying to say is that they are not d...

Greg, I appreciate that you think it is scarring the original line but you can still climb the original line with the new sequence (clip the 4th from a massive jug). As I stated on my website I felt stupid for not seeing the massive hold down and right when I got on 50 words last year, in hind sight...

Elite Level Routes

Wow, I just thought I'd check this forum to see if there was any additional information about the Roc Trip and came across this topic. Great topic. First of all I think the Red does have potential for harder routes, the number of untouched cliffs is astounding, however most of the areas that have cl...

Jerry from Cincinatti?

I took some photos of him at the cliff the other day and promised to get some to him but lost his email. Can someone pass it on to me, or get him to call me.

I'm pretty sure his name is Jerry and he's a doctor in Cincinatti. That being said, I'm dumb so who knows.
