Re: Dreaming
Kalymnos > Geyikbayiri, at least based on hearing a lot about the former and climbing a couple of days at the latter. The climbing is pretty fun but it is rather polished, at least the routes I tried. Kalymnos seems to have a more complete package with the whole island paradise aspect vs. Geyikbayi...

Re: Dreaming
I'd love to get to kalymnos, turkey, spain, and france this year Kalymnos and Turkey were on the radar. Looked amazing from what I saw of Tom's trip, and Narc's stuff looked good too! Kalymnos > Geyikbayiri, at least based on hearing a lot about the former and climbing a couple of days at the latter...

Re: Fixed Gear
On the topic of fixed lines though, I try and strictly avoid jugging lines without a "sub-anchor" that I can see from the ground (bolt or good piece of gear near the top). One of the most dangerous and unnecessary things you can do IMO is jug an old fixed rope that you can't see from bott...

Re: Mental Recovery
This past April I was sport climbing in the Red when I heard a loud pop in my ankle. I wasn't doing anything crazy, just doing the normal stand-up-on-a-foothold move I've done thousands of times on a sport route in the Red. I've done countless "more dangerous" things like trad climbing, b...

But shit can happen during other types of climbing as well. Case in point: This past April I was sport climbing in ...

Re: Media frenzy!!
Except that climbingnarc posted that on Thursday and this thread got started on Tuesday... How do I know that climbingnarc didn't make that post because of reading this thread... I'm still skeptical! FWIW I heard it from multiple "sources" prior to this post coming to in existence. At lea...

Re: Climbing over X-Mas Break
Since my discussions with Ian were the impetus for this post let me clarify/add a few criteria: - No camping - Approach it from the perspective that climbing is not the main focus of the trip but rather one thing out of many that could be done. - We are open to international destinations as well Por...

Do people still consider Maizy Mae an actual rock climb?

Re: Mountain BBQ
Yes, do tell. I'll be planning my entire weekend around this. Screw climbing.
