The FS doesn't maintain a lot of things they should. Except when it comes to climbing.

OK, this has been nagging me for years now. Why don't we start calling the area what it really is geographically? It's actually the Big Sinking Creek Valley. The southern region is so impersonal. Big Sinking Creek or just Big Sinking sounds so much more like a real climbing area. And the whole area ...

Boone Elias, he was born on April 9th, 2003 at 2:11am and weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz. He was 21.5". Mandy and the baby are both doing well. He's a little more needy than some babies. Last night was one of the few nights he's slept all night long. But he's a good baby all the same. I think we've decide...

Just got back from the Arena. We did Exacta. It felt like 5.8 and it looked like some big holds had broken. Also, I wasn't too happy about the bolting job. Seems like someone with longer arms than mine placed those bolts. With traffic it may be a two star climb. Got some choss and iffy rock right no...

#30 is called Through the Turnstile and I thought it was 5.7, #31 is called Penalty Box and I thought it was 5.7 too. My family members that climb think its harder than Blue Plate Special.

Don't get me wrong, I greatly enjoy thumping around the Gorge and never seeing anyone. I've hiked all over Gladie Creek, both sides, valley and ridge and about four miles up the creek bed scouting whitewater potential. It's as close to what I want as I can get in my own backyard. I just laugh at it ...

Finger Lickin' Good is the third most sustained finger crack in the Red?! Heck-far! I almost ONSIGHTED that thing.! Truly, I used to think I sucked at fingercracks. Then I started nibbling at five-ten and before I knew it I had climbed six .10s, all fingercracks. Cruising Lane, Social Butterfly, Fin...

Petzl will probably kill me for this. You would be better off buying a Soloist than to modify the gri-gri but to my best understanding they work in almost the exact same way. Just keep in mind that all of this is inherently more difficult and dangerous than conventionally belayed climbing. I try to ...
